Archive-locked, on this desk, means the census closed and later plates do not reuse that interior ID. Reprint-style drops reuse cover language, sometimes the gold, and change the plate. Both can be handsome. Only one should be paid as if the room were empty.
Collectors mix them because the marketing sentence is almost the same. Our ledger codes exist to slow that mix. XM-05 is not a mood. If a seller shows you a bird motif and a gold circle, ask for the plate ID before you ask for a discount.
A practical check: search your own earlier screenshots. If the interior you saved in 2024 does not match the interior on offer in 2026, you are not looking at the same edition. We have written that sentence in provenance letters more than once, including to people we like.
When in doubt, pay for a review of one edition rather than stretching a matching memo until it becomes a hunt. Matching proposes candidates. Review reads the object in front of you. Acquisition starts only after you name the object.
